Our garden was completely renovated in July 2021 and provides a wonderful space for the children to enjoy all aspects of outdoor play throughout the whole year. The garden offers a whole host of learning opportunities, whilst still affording the children enough space to run, jump, hop, roll and use the bikes and scooters.
The artificial grass and outdoor carpet surface ensures comfort and safety whilst our little charges explore the climbing tower and play on the larger toys. We have a canopy that provides weather-proofing for an all year round outdoor space.
Under our canopied area we have a purpose built woodwork bench where all children can experiment and create with wood using real tools. Having an undercover area means that even in wetter weather the outdoor space can still be used as a classroom. Access to the outdoor area is from the pre-school room at the back of the building, and all children spend a substantial amount of time outside in the garden every day.
Children gain enormous confidence through their outdoor play and at Carousel we want our children’s health and well-being to be enhanced by their experiences outside. Our garden incorporates many natural elements including a sandpit, water wall, planters, bug hotel and mud kitchen. The planters allow the children to be fully involved in the growing of fruits, vegetables and flowers that they will nurture and eventually see on their dinner plates!
