Carousel Day Nursery has been a family business since Bev Joyner opened the nursery in 1992 with her mother Vera, and her sister Jacqui then joined the business in 2000. Bev and Jacqui have five children between them, so are acutely aware of the diverse needs of individual children and the importance of recruiting the right staff to cater for those needs. One of Bev’s children, Katharine, is a qualified early years teacher and is our nursery manager. We are very proud of the whole nursery team, the welcoming environment they provide and most importantly, the standard of care and education the children enjoy at Carousel.

Carousel’s specially modified bungalow, situated in a quiet residential street in the east of Billericay, has been designed to create a home-from-home feel at the nursery. We can accommodate just over thirty children each day aged from 3 months to 5 years. Organised over four areas, our Lower Nursery Ducklings & Hedgehogs Rooms care for infants and toddlers aged 3 months to 2yrs and our Upper Nursery Rabbits & Pre-School Squirrels Rooms provide care and education for children 2yrs+ to rising 5’s.

Carousel has ‘grown up’ over the almost thirty years that we have been practising, experiencing lots of changes both in the dynamics of our nursery and pre-school as well as in the legislation that governs our business. We are very experienced practitioners who are proud to have provided high quality childcare to some of the now young adults of Billericay. These ‘old boys and girls’ are now starting to return to us with their own children.

Carousel is approved to provide free early education through entitlement to funding for 2, 3 and 4-year-olds with both 15hrs and 30hrs available. We are happy to provide a personal illustration of how the funding works at Carousel, as it can be complex. You will find more information about funding and help with childcare fees in our prospectus.
